Aaron traces the evolution of the earliest artificial intelligence program for artmaking, devised by Harold Cohen. Once an established painter in London, Cohen conceived the software in the late 1960s at the University of California, San Diego. In the early 1970s, he named it AARON, alluding to the biblical figure. This exhibit explores how artistic creation is often glorified as a kind of communication with the divine.
