The Friendship Corner by Flash Pack will offer a reprieve from New York’s hustle and bustle, instead creating a space for strangers to come together and get to know each other.

The free to the public, intimate space – which was designed to help New Yorkers come as strangers and leave as friends – deliberately has no Wi-Fi connection, screens, or other distractions. Instead, it is kitted out with just two chairs and a pack of ‘conversation starter’ cards to help break the ice.

More than two thirds (67%) of New Yorkers feel socially isolated, which has prompted friendship company Flash Pack to spring into action. The company is on a mission to create one million friendships and specializes in group adventures for solo travelers. A remarkable 80% of people keep in touch after going on a Flash Pack trip – despite 99% of Flash Packers not knowing anyone else in advance.

Opening weekend will take place from May 17-19, and weekly event programming will follow, including activities throughout the month of May and June to mark Mental Health Awareness Month and Men’s Mental Health month, respectively.
