The Museum of Modern Art will present “Horror: Messaging the Monstrous – Creatures” as a part of its horror film series at The Museum of Modern Art screening August 28th through September 5thth. Epitomizing the horror genre is of course, the presence of antagonistic creatures who although lurk in the shadows, often haunt their victims with uncanny and paranormal precision.

Whether the genre’s monsters are grotesque figures of the imagination that manifest nature’s vengeance, insidiously humanoid in appearance, or the film’s supernatural love interest, the fabulous creatures of horror are rarely less than spectacular reminders that humankind is, ultimately, the endangered species.
