Hello,

Friday, October 30, 2020 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM EDT Online Event (Virtual from The Graduate Center, CUNY) Free; RSVP required Register here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/fridays3-with-kathleen-hall-jamieson-tickets-124421986511

Professor Jamieson’s most recent book is Cyberwar: How Russian Hackers and Trolls Helped Elect a President, which won the 2019 R.R. Hawkins Award from the Association of American Publishers. PBS NewsHour Anchor Judy Woodruff wrote of the book, "Kathleen Hall Jamieson has performed a great service for American democracy by taking a scholar’s approach to answering one of the most urgent questions of our time: How did Russia try to influence the U.S. elections of 2016 and how much difference did that make?.” Jamieson co-founded FactCheck.org as a way to help voters evaluate political claims. In 2015 the site expanded to include SciCheck, which debunks false or misleading scientific claims. Among her published articles, her paper, “Implications of the Demise of ‘Fact’ in Political Discourse” received the American Philosophical Society’s 2016 Henry Allen Moe Prize. This year Professor Jamieson was elected to membership of the National Academy of Sciences and was awarded the 2020 NAS Public Welfare Medal for her “non-partisan crusade to ensure the integrity of facts in public discourse and the development of the science of scientific communication to promote public understanding of complex issues.”
