“Fun Ride”: Swinging Through the Ages
Drummer and composer Matt Wilson joins NYYS Jazz Band for their season-opening performance in a program celebrating the great drummers of Jazz History: Buddy Rich, Max Roach, Art Blakey, Roy Haynes, Shelly Manne, and more. Combining buoyant zeal, idiosyncratic style, infectious humor, joyous swing, an indomitable spirit of surprise, and his universally recognized personal warmth, Wilson is one of the most in-demand players and educators on the modern jazz scene.
