Dj Broquete - Time Out Market New York,Empires Stores
August 23, 2019 - Brooklyn

Hailing from The Bronx, NY, DJ and turntablist Broquete bears a heavy amount of history on his shoulders. However, it's clear by his calmness behind the decks, and his forward thinking selections and routines, that the weight bothers him none. New DJ's are often looked upon with reservation, but Broquete quickly hushe's the naysayers and gets them grooving, weaving together genres and keeping the club on its toes with a quiet intensity. In addition to having served as DJ Soul's weekly opener at Kinfolk 94, spinning alongside the likes of Nick Hook and Nick Catchdubs, and rocking underground parties all over NYC, Broquete is the don of Smooth Tings, a fast-growing party that exclusively features world music and club music. With a strong passion and unique approach to the art, it's clear that Broquete is here to stay and rise above the pretenders in the DJ world.Dose" which airs bi-weekly. Vada has traveled to play for crowds in DC, Miami, and Orlando (where she's originally from) and truly knows how to get people up and moving with her music. She has performed at multiple venues in New York and LA including Soho House, The W Hotel, and more.

Popgun Presents: Why? *Moved to Elsewhere Hall* - Elsewhere
August 23, 2019 - Brooklyn

WHY? The final words sung on the sixth album by WHY? are an apt place to begin: “Hold on, what’s going on?” Because while there’s much familiar about the oddly named Moh Lhean—mastermind Yoni Wolf’s sour-sweet croon, his deadpan poet’s drawl and ear for stunningly fluid psych-pop-folk-whatever arrangement—a great deal has changed in the four years that’ve passed since 2012’s Mumps, Etc., an LP that honed the band’s orchestral precision and self-deprecating swagger to a fine point. It’s significant that this is the first fully home-recorded WHY? album since the project’s 2003 debut. Made mostly in Wolf’s studio and co-produced by his brother Josiah, the result is obsessive, of course, but also intimate, and flush with warmth and looseness. But the biggest transformation is a bit subtler. After years of eying his world, in part, with a cynical squint, Wolf here learns a new mode. While Moh Lhean never stoops to outright optimism, it chronicles our hero finding peace in the unknowing, trading the wry smirk for a holy shrug, and looking past corporeal pain for something more cosmic and, rest assured, equally weird. A low tone opens the album on “This Ole King” as acoustic pluck a... (read more)

Binky Griptite Orchestra Binky Birthday Bash - LunÀtico
August 24, 2019 - Brooklyn

Best known as the guitarist and emcee for Sharon Jones and The Dap-Kings, Binky has been frequenting the LunÀtico bandstand of late - this time with Binky Griptite Orchestra! Binky was born and raised in Milwaukee, and lived in Minneapolis for a bit before moving to NY. He took a break from music for a couple of years, but when he was ready to jump back in, he happened to meet Gabe Roth (co-founder of Daptone Records), and did a couple of sessions for a Lee Fields album. They started doing gigs, and the rest is history. As The Dap-Kings they started playing with Sharon Jones, and things got more serious. That path led to acclaimed albums and worldwide tours, all cut short when Sharon was diagnosed with cancer, which stole her from us all in 2016. They're still officially a band, but taking a bit of a break to mourn their sister Sharon, doing a few little things here and there, instrumental gigs and studio work.

The band is performing Arthur's original music and arrangements mixed with a very special focus on John Coltrane's and Miles Davis' compositions and his signature interpretations of all-time jazz classics. "Every member of the band is a virtuoso musician who represents the 'cream of the crop' of today's jazz scene in New York," stated Arthur Sadowsky in an email to the DownBeat Magazine. Classic Albums Live Presents: Pink Floyd's 'the Wall' - The Paramount
August 24, 2019 - Huntington

40 years after its release the wall has taken on an even deeper meaning it seems like there are now more walls than bridges, but music builds bridges and the wall is a bridge. It's a news report and a social media feed perhaps Pink Floyd should rename the album the bridge or at least follow it up with an album called the bridge. I'll call roger and invite him to tea to discuss this. The wall was released in December 1979 it became the number one selling album of the 70s although it was an 80s album, either way change was in the air – and it took this albums reflection to enact it. We know how to perform this album all the sounds and voices, all the sonic luxury, it all comes alive on our stage! The musicians all realize how important this album is, we all do. It's a monumental work of art to me the wall is more important than anything you'll ever find in a museum.

For information please call 516-247-5211 Members get the best seats! Building on his start as one of the most popular finalists of American Idol's fifth season, Chris Daughtry's post-Idol career spanned the archetypal modern rock of his early albums to the folk- and dance-tinged territory of 2010s albums such as Baptized. Where Bo Bice proved that American Idol could have a rocker as a finalist, Chris Daughtry proved that the show could generate a successful rocker outside the context of the show. Of course, it helped that he was the polar opposite of Bice, a shaggy retro-rocker soaked in the South. Bold and bald, Daughtry was the picture of a modern rocker, living by the rule book written by Live and Fuel. These were the qualities that helped make Chris Daughtry the most successful new rock & roll singer of 2006, as well as one of the most successful Idol graduates in the show's history.
