The Museum of Modern Art will present June performances that will premiere new works by electronic musicians and DJs Hiro Kone, SCRAAATCH, and Muqata'a in conjunction with the current MoMA presentation of Basel Abbas and Ruanne Abou-Rahme's May amnesia never kiss us on the mouth. Abbas and Abou-Rahme will premiere “an echo buried, buried, but calling still in concert with other performacnes on June 23rd, 25th, and the 26th. This multipart project co-commissioned by MoMA and Dia Art Foundation examines how communities bear witness to experiences of violence, loss, displacement, and forced migration. Since the early 2010s, the artists have created an online archive of audio & video recordings of everyday people singing and dancing in communal spaces in Iraq, Palestine, Syria, and Yemen. MoMA's exhibition, on view through June 26, brings this footage into the Studio through an immersive, multichannel sound and moving-image installation.
