Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on Broadway: First Video

Hold on to your Oompa Loompas—Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is making its Broadway debut and we’ve got the video to prove it! The footage here will get you in the mood for an incredible 2017 meeting of Broadway magic and Roald Dahl's most favored tale, which comes complete with Everlasting Gobstoppers, chocolate waterfalls, and, of course, a glass elevator.

An all-star creative crew has been assembled for the production: three-time Tony Award winner Jack O’Brien is directing, Grammy, Emmy and Tony Award winner Marc Shaiman wrote the music and co-wrote the lyrics with Grammy and Tony Award winner Scott Wittman. The book is by Artistic Director of Edinburgh’s Royal Lyceum theatre David Greig and choreography is by Tony Award nominee and Emmy Award winner Joshua Bergasse. If your touchstone is the Gene Wilder picture, no worries: Broadway’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will include songs from the 1971 film. Oh, and the star? That would be two-time Tony Award winner Christian Borle.
