Jews and Judaism After the French Revolution

Dec 17 | Tue | 17-Dec-19 |
View Website

Before the Revolution, French Jews lived in semiautonomous, legally recognized communities, isolated from the rest of society. When Jews were granted legal equality, restrictions governing their lives were lifted and over the century that followed, they moved to new parts of the country, embraced new economic activities, socialized with new people and were educated in secular institutions. How did Judaism, Jewish culture and Jewish identity evolve as a result?
