Designed by the same man behind Central Park, Prospect Park is Brooklyn’s crowned jewel when it comes to enjoying nature. Made up of 526 acres, you can easily spend an entire day getting lost in Prospect Park’s fields, trails, and woodsy areas. Coney Island is one of Brooklyn’s most iconic locations in the entire borough, housing the famed Coney Island Beach & Boardwalk. You’ll find over 50 rides and attractions at Coney Island, including the Wonder Wheel and the wooden Coney Island Cyclone rollercoaster. Everything ranging from Egyptian masterpieces and African art to European paintings and period rooms are included in this museum’s permanent collection. The Green-Wood Cemetery is a National Historic Landmark that covers 478 acres of New York City’s coveted turf. Self-guided tours are free with maps available at every cemetery entrance. Famous residents include Jean-Michel Basquiat, William Magear “Boss” Tweed, and Henry Chadwick, and you’ll see one of the country’s largest outdoor collections of statues and mausoleums. The Brooklyn Heights Promenade provides the perfect photo op thanks to towering backdrop of Manhattan’s Financial District that is directly across the East River from it. Made famous in classic films like Annie Hall and Moonstruck, you can find romance, inspiration, and whatever else you’re looking for during a Brooklyn afternoon while strolling down this beloved walkway.
