How to Celebrate Halloween in Brooklyn: Harvest Homecoming at Brooklyn Botanic Garden
A fun-filled day is right around the corner with Harvest Homecoming. This festival brings together cider-makers, kombucha brewers, apple farmers, and a costume contest for kids. Adults can sample cider and kombucha from vendors stationed at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden throughout the day, as well as hear live country, folk, Haitian drumming, and Brazilian samba reggae music. Garden staff will also host tours during the afternoon. Families, meanwhile, can take horse-drawn hayrides, jump around in a pumpkin-shaped bounce house, and play Brussels sprout bowling. Kids can also show off their Halloween costumes at the garden’s annual parade, starting at 4:30pm. Children under 12 get in free; admission for students 12+ is $25 and $30 for adults. House of Yes always brings the outrageousness, and this Halloween will be no exception. Immerse yourself in New York’s historic cemetery like never before. Green-Wood Cemetery’s annual Nightfall event returns with an evening stroll through the beautiful gothic tombstones, punctuated with spooky surprises. The performers will be capturing the event’s theme, lovesick, through music, storytelling, performance, and visuals. The canine costume contest returns for its 21st year at Fort Greene Park this Halloween season. The Great PUPkin features some of the most incredible dog get-ups imaginable, and all are free to attend! Once again, The Wild Honey Pie will gather costumed foodies for a very Brooklyn Halloween. Their Costume Dinner Party will take over Esme in Greenpoint this year and offer an exclusive concert by Oberhofer. The synth-y pop of Brad Oberhofer, who has performed at Coachella and been featured on Gossip Girl, will be the centerpiece of this autumnal feast. $50 tickets include select beverages and three courses of New American dinner, with a vegan option available.
