Dj Broquete - Time Out Market New York,Empires Stores
August 23, 2019 - Brooklyn

Hailing from The Bronx, NY, DJ and turntablist Broquete bears a heavy amount of history on his shoulders. However, it's clear by his calmness behind the decks, and his forward thinking selections and routines, that the weight bothers him none. New DJ's are often looked upon with reservation, but Broquete quickly hushe's the naysayers and gets them grooving, weaving together genres and keeping the club on its toes with a quiet intensity. In addition to having served as DJ Soul's weekly opener at Kinfolk 94, spinning alongside the likes of Nick Hook and Nick Catchdubs, and rocking underground parties all over NYC, Broquete is the don of Smooth Tings, a fast-growing party that exclusively features world music and club music. With a strong passion and unique approach to the art, it's clear that Broquete is here to stay and rise above the pretenders in the DJ world.Dose" which airs bi-weekly. Vada has traveled to play for crowds in DC, Miami, and Orlando (where she's originally from) and truly knows how to get people up and moving with her music. She has performed at multiple venues in New York and LA including Soho House, The W Hotel, and more.

Popgun Presents: Why? *Moved to Elsewhere Hall* - Elsewhere
August 23, 2019 - Brooklyn

WHY? The final words sung on the sixth album by WHY? are an apt place to begin: “Hold on, what’s going on?” Because while there’s much familiar about the oddly named Moh Lhean—mastermind Yoni Wolf’s sour-sweet croon, his deadpan poet’s drawl and ear for stunningly fluid psych-pop-folk-whatever arrangement—a great deal has changed in the four years that’ve passed since 2012’s Mumps, Etc., an LP that honed the band’s orchestral precision and self-deprecating swagger to a fine point. It’s significant that this is the first fully home-recorded WHY? album since the project’s 2003 debut. Made mostly in Wolf’s studio and co-produced by his brother Josiah, the result is obsessive, of course, but also intimate, and flush with warmth and looseness. But the biggest transformation is a bit subtler. After years of eying his world, in part, with a cynical squint, Wolf here learns a new mode. While Moh Lhean never stoops to outright optimism, it chronicles our hero finding peace in the unknowing, trading the wry smirk for a holy shrug, and looking past corporeal pain for something more cosmic and, rest assured, equally weird. A low tone opens the album on “This Ole King” as acoustic pluck a... (read more)

Lost Bayou Ramblers + Poguetry Feat. Spider Stacy and Cait O'Riordian - Brooklyn Bowl
August 23, 2019 - Brooklyn

The Grammy award winning Lost Bayou Ramblers' evolution as a perversely progressive band rooted in Cajun traditions continues to excite, challenge, and redefine both genre expectations as well as cultural preconceptions. Founded in 1999 by brothers Andre and Louis Michot, the last 5 years have brought LBR a feature on Jack White's American Epic, score contributions to the Oscar nominated film Beasts of the Southern Wild, a Grammy award for their latest album "Kalenda" and tours with both Arcade Fire and the Violent Femmes. Lost Bayou Ramblers stands at the crosscurrents of Louisiana culture by inhabiting the gray area between Cajun and Creole, convention and innovation, mystery and a revelation, experimenting and growing the show to what it's become today: an eclectic mix of modern sounds and rhythms with ancient Cajun melodies and lyrics. World Café says "The Grammy-winning group plays a revved-up version of Cajun music, shot through with punk energy and psychedelic fuzz."

The Marshall Tucker Band - Sony Hall
August 23, 2019 - New York

As it turned out, the collective talents of The Marshall Tucker Band took them very far indeed. Today, the band records on its own RAMBLIN' RECORDS Label (distributed by Sony/RED) and continues to release new and previously unreleased material. Still led today by founding member and lead singer Doug Gray, they represent a time and place in music that will never be duplicated. Gray is quick to credit the band's current dynamic members with carrying on the timeless essence of The Marshall Tucker Band sound.

Zebra - The Space at Westbury
August 24, 2019 - Westbury

Zebra galloped out of New Orleans in early 1975. The trio, consisting of Randy Jackson, Felix Hanemann and Guy Gelso, concocted their moniker from a 1926 Vogue magazine cover and soon won over the South and East Coast. In 1982 Zebra's self-titled debut album went gold and was the fastest selling debut album in Atlantic Records' history thanks to the radio and MTV airplay of "Tell Me What You Want" and "Who's Behind the Door?". Veteran producer Jack Douglas (John Lennon, Aerosmith, Cheap Trick) also helmed the follow-up, "No Tellin' Lies". The songs range from the hard-rocking "Wait Until the Summer's Gone" to the Beatle-esque ballad, "Lullaby". With the release of their third Atlantic album "3.V", Zebra took their career one step farther: the album's credits read "Produced by Randy Jackson and Zebra". Thus, for the very first time, the group gained complete control of its creative output. A collection of the finest songs they have ever written, "3.V" clearly shows Zebra's lasting power and originality. In all, Zebra fans enjoyed a total of five videos aired on MTV and have given the band combined album sales of nearly 2 million worldwide. Zebra emerged from the studio again in 2003... (read more)

Classic Albums Live Presents: Pink Floyd's 'the Wall' - The Paramount
August 24, 2019 - Huntington

40 years after its release the wall has taken on an even deeper meaning it seems like there are now more walls than bridges, but music builds bridges and the wall is a bridge. It's a news report and a social media feed perhaps Pink Floyd should rename the album the bridge or at least follow it up with an album called the bridge. I'll call roger and invite him to tea to discuss this. The wall was released in December 1979 it became the number one selling album of the 70s although it was an 80s album, either way change was in the air – and it took this albums reflection to enact it. We know how to perform this album all the sounds and voices, all the sonic luxury, it all comes alive on our stage! The musicians all realize how important this album is, we all do. It's a monumental work of art to me the wall is more important than anything you'll ever find in a museum.

Lizzie No 'Vanity' Release Show - Mercury Lounge
August 25, 2019 - New York

Building on the songwriting prowess displayed in her critically acclaimed debut album 'Hard Won,' Lizzie No is unsparing in the stories she tells on her new album 'Vanity,' out August 2. The nine songs on 'Vanity' are epic tales of ego, featuring narrative shifts within vividly crafted characters. No embodies characters ranging from a self-obsessed fuckboy in "Narcissus" (which Rolling Stone called a "crisp alt-rock gem") to a broke songwriter waiting for her big break in "Pity Party," to a bitter and isolated rocker on "Loyalty" who rants that the crowd has left him behind. Inventive arrangements written in collaboration with co-producer Nick Rapley elevate the record to shimmering heights, alternating between swaggering grooves and intimate clarity. Lizzie has showcased at Americanafest, SXSW, and as a featured soloist at the Louisville Orchestra's Festival of American Music. She is also a winner of the American Songwriter Magazine Lyrics Contest.

Daughtry with Special Guest Augustana - Theater at Westbury
August 25, 2019 - Westbury

Performed in the Full Round Everyone needs a ticket regardless of Age Interested in VIP Membership and Premium Seating for our events? For information please call 516-247-5211 Members get the best seats! Building on his start as one of the most popular finalists of American Idol's fifth season, Chris Daughtry's post-Idol career spanned the archetypal modern rock of his early albums to the folk- and dance-tinged territory of 2010s albums such as Baptized. Where Bo Bice proved that American Idol could have a rocker as a finalist, Chris Daughtry proved that the show could generate a successful rocker outside the context of the show. Of course, it helped that he was the polar opposite of Bice, a shaggy retro-rocker soaked in the South. Bold and bald, Daughtry was the picture of a modern rocker, living by the rule book written by Live and Fuel. These were the qualities that helped make Chris Daughtry the most successful new rock & roll singer of 2006, as well as one of the most successful Idol graduates in the show's history.
