Patti LuPone to Burn Bright at 54 Below

Two-time Tony winner, Grammy winner, and Broadway legend Patti LuPone continues her two year contract with Broadway nightspot 54 Below.  LuPone returns with her show, The Lady with the Torch, April 2-14.

Conceived and directed by Tony winner Scott Wittman (Hairspray), LuPone performs an eclectic collection of torch songs by such composers and lyricists as Arthur Schwartz, Howard Dietz, Jule Styne, Sammy Cahn, Billy Barnes, Harold Arlen, George and Ira Gershwin, and Cole Porter.

LuPone first won the Tony for Best Actress in a Musical for her role as Eva Perón in the 1979 original Broadway production of Evita. Her second Tony came in 2007, as Mama Rose in a revival of Gypsy. In 2008, she co-starred with Audra McDonald in the Los Angeles Opera production of Kurt Weill's opera Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny and won two Grammys.

In Jan. 2013, LuPone released Far Away Places, a live album, that was recorded at 54 Below. "I love 54 Below," said LuPone in a statement. "It was an honor to launch this beautiful supper club when it first opened its doors... it always feels like a homecoming when I return."

54 Below is an intimate space for Broadway professionals and audiences alike. With pre-theatre dinner offered nightly from 5pm, 54 Below has set a new culinary standard for New York City entertainment venues.

Ms. LuPone’s contract continues through July 2016. For information and reservations, visit 54below.com.
