Saturday, February 22nd is National Margarita Day, and New York City certainly knows how to celebrate. Mexican restaurants have been on an upsurge in recent years and some even boast their own tequila bars, meaning the quality of NYC’s margaritas is soaring. Whether you prefer rocks, a salted rim, a traditional, or today’s mod flavors, New York will do you right. Let’s get the party started! On Saturday, February 22, Añejo will offer guests two margarita flights to appease every kind of margarita fan in New York City. For spice-enthusiasts, the Tanteo Spicy Margarita Flight will boast jalapeño, chipotle, and habañero margaritas. The Standard Flight will tantalize with blanco, añejo, mezcal, and jalepeño margaritas. Those seeking to continue the celebration can stop by Añejo’s For the Love of Agave event on February 24from 7pm to 10 pm. Guests can sample rare, unique expressions from more than 30 types of tequila and mezcals. Specialty cocktails will also be on hand. There’s great bites too. Executive Chef Ricardo Camacho offers a delish guac and salsa station, and a build-your-own taco bar. Refine your agave tastes and learn about the production process and techniques of each spirit. An ice cream shop—or more accurately an ice cream barlour—works its way into the list. Tipsy Scoop, a liquor-infused ice cream and sorbet company, will partner with Altos Tequila to give away FREE scoops of Mango Margarita sorbet as a National Margarita Day special. The sorbet, which is made with fresh mango and infused with Altos Tequila Plata, will be given away at two Tipsy Scoop ice cream barlour locations in New York City. The early bird gets the tequila worm! This Margarita Day special is only available to the first 100 customers in each location while supplies last.
